Know all men by these presents that Marie Jeanne
Vieve Fontenet Villier wife of Louis Chevalier Villier
of the State of Louisiana and Parish of Saint Landry,
by and with the consent of her husband, and for
and in consideration of the sum of seven hundred dollars
in hand paid, before the signing and delivery of these
presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged,
hath bargained and sold and doth by these presents
grant, bargain, sell and deliver unto Louis DeBlanc
of the State aforesaid and Parish of Saint Martin a
certain negroe man named Raymond aged about
twenty years, to have and to hold the said negroe
man slave to the said Louis DeBlanc his heirs &
assigns forever - And the said Marie Jeanne Vieve
Fontenet Villier with the consent of her husband
as aforesaid the title of said Slave against her heirs
executors & administrators, and against all manner
of claims, to the said Louis DeBlanc his heirs, ex.rs [executors]
adm.r [administrators] & assigns does warrant and will forever defend,
She also warrants the said slave free from all diseases
prescribed by Law - In testimony whereof -
She the said Marie Jeanne Vieve Fontenet Villier
& Louis Villier, consenting to the sale, have hereunto
Signed in presence of the subscribing Witnesses &
befor George King Judge in and for the Parish of
Saint Landry aforesaid at Opelousas this second
day of August in the year One thousand eight
