I have nothing worth communicating since I left Natchez towns
and settled countries are pretty much alike improved society
is insipid and monotonous or its deviations from established rule
are awkward and unnatural besides I am now a member of Congress
& a candidate and I see & hear nothing that is not constrained
however I will follow up my tour. I embarked with Mr Dick in a
military boat about noon floated on during the night and the next
evening arrived at Point Coupee I landed at the plantation of
the former Delegate Mr Poydrass parted with my friend Dick, knocked
up the old fellow who was abed made myself known & was received
with much hospitality, the next morning we breakfasted on fried
eggs fruit wine & coffee and as the day was pleasant amused ourselves
in walking over the plantation, the crop heretofore in
that part of the State has been cotton with some corn but this
year for the first time the partial
