              Convenio: En la Nueva Feliciana á los Veinte y siete  
dias del mes de Abril de mil Ocho Cientos 
y nueve, se presentaron ante mi y testigos 
Doña Lucia Perrie y los Albaceas del difunto  
Solomon Alston, y dixeron[sic], que por 
una Clausula del Testamento de dicha 
Alston, se dice: que dexa[sic] à su sobrina 
Maria Ana Gray una Mulata pequeña 
nombrada Dafni como de cinco Años 
con Condicion, que la dha[sic] Madama Perrie 
Madre de Maria Ana Gray ante dicho 
la de emancipar un Mulato hijo de su 
Cocinera, nombrado Elisha de tres Años  
de edad, y las partes contratantes han consentido  
en todo loque està explicado en  
la Clausula del testamento y ademas, 
han quedado de acuerdo que el Mulato  
citado quedarà baxa[sic] la tutela y al  
cuidado de dha[sic] Madama Perrie hasta 
que tenga la edad de diez y seis Años, 
Epoca que cesara de tenerlo à su cuidada 
y sera libre de en donde le convenga como 
libre que es; y hallandose presente Dn"[sic] 
Santiago Perrie vino de acuerdo con las 
Condiciones hechas por Su Señora y áAgreement: In the New Feliciana on the twenty-seventh   
day of the month of April of one thousand Eight Hundred 
and nine, they appeared before me and witnesses 
Mrs. Lucy Perrie and the Executors of the deceased 
Solomon Alston, and said, that according to  
a Clause of the Testament of the above 
Alston, it says: that he leaves to his niece  
Maria Ana Gray a young Mulatto girl 
named Daphne of about five years 
with the Condition, that the said Madame Perrie 
Mother of the aforementioned Maria Ana Gray 
give emancipation to a Mulatto son of her 
Cook, named Elisha of three years 
of age, and the parties to the contract have 
consented to everything that is explained in  
the Clause of the testament and furthermore, 
they have reached an agreement that the aforementioned 
Mulatto will be left under the tutelage and  
care of said Madame Perrie until 
he reaches the age of sixteen, 
Time at which she will cease to have him under her care 
and will be free wherever it is in his interest to 
be free; and being himself present Mr. 
Santiago Perrie came to agree with the  
conditions made by His Wife and with
