Army Reserve officer arid
Shreveport physician, has been
appointed as a liaison officer for-the
United States Military Aca-demy
at West Point, N.Y. His
appointment was announced
jointly by Gen. J, Milnor
Roberts, Chief of the Army
Reserve and the Military Acade-my.
Col. Shannon recently attend-ed
a week-long conference at
West Point during which time
the Academy's a d m i s s i o n s
procedure and programs were
explained.
Col. Shannon will provide
wider dissemination of informa-tion
about the Military Academy
to the segment of qualified
youth who never really hear
about West Point. Information
about admissions procedures
will be available through Shan-non.
He will serve as a Military
Academy liaison officer in addi-tion
to his civilian occupation as
head of the d e p a r t m e n t of
psychiatry and director of resi-dency
training in psychiatry at
Confederate Memorial Medical
Center in Shreveport.
Young men, parents and high
school guidance counselors may
obtain information about West
Point by contacting their con-gressman,
the academy or Col.
Shannon.
