5 Scottish
Pupils Due at
Med School
Five students from the Uni-versity
of Glasgow, Scotland,
will arrive in Shreveport later
this month as participants in an
e x c h a n g e program with the
Louisiana gtate U n i y e r si t y
School of Medicine in Shreve-port.
They are Alison Currie and
John Green of Glasgow; Pauline
A. Connor and Richard Pattman
of Milngavie, and David Latta
of Prestwick.
For the ten weeks that the
advanced medical students are
in Shreveport they will work
under the supervision of staff
doctors and r e s i d e n t s at
Confederate Medical Center ob-serving
and attending lectures.
This is the second year of the
exchange programs between the
two schools. Last year the
Scottish university sent three
co-eds to participate in the
program.
Hopefully next year, accord-ing
to LSU Associate Dean Dr.
George Meneely, the Shreveport
Medical School will be able to
send some of its students to
Scotland to participate in their
clinical program.
The exchange program was
born as the result of a friend-ship
between Meneely and Dr.
Ross Lorimer, professor at the
Scottish school.
Finances for the program are
from private sources, according
to Meneely.
