Dr. Gary B. Levy
Med Center
Registrar
Is Named
Dr. Gary B. Levy of New
Orleans has been named
registrar of the Louisiana
State University Medical
Center.
Appointment of Dr. Levy
was announced today by Dr.
Allen A. Copping, chancellor
of the Medical Center.
As Medical Center
registrar, Dr. Levy's duties
will include the compilation,
m a i n t e n a n c e , and
certification of academic
records pertaining to the
students of all six professional
schools of the Medical Center,
five of which are located in
New Orleans and one in
Shreveport.
Dr. Levy, 33, replaced the
late Wendell N. Hanson, who
died in 1974.
A native of Gretna, Dr.
Levy was educated in the
public schools of Jefferson
Parish and received a
bachelor of arts degree in
mathematics at LSU in New
Orleans in 1963. He earned a
master of science in
mathematics from the
University of Southwestern
Louisiana in 1969 and was
awarded his doctor of
philosophy in mathematics
from USL in 1972.
Prior to joining the statt ot
the LSU Medical Center, Dr.
Levy served as an assistant
professor of mathematics and
coordinator of data processing
at LSU in Eunice.
He is a member of the
American Mathematical
Society, the Mathematical
Association of America, the
Association of Institutional
Research and the American
Association of Collegiate
Registrars and Admissions
Officers.
Other duties of Dr. Levy
will include supervision of
student registration and
coordination of the Medical
Center's student academic
record - keeping functions
with other segments of the
LSU System.
