Guard convicted
on gun charge
A 34-year-old LSU Medical Center
security guard was convicted Wednes-day
of carrying a concealed weapon in
the Caddo Parish Courthouse during a
civil court proceeding in October.
Ronald Boult of 1149 Dunbriar was
charged with carrying a concealed
weapon after sheriff's deputies found
Boult was carrying a pistol at a civil
court appearance.
Judge Paul Lynch found Boult guilty
after hearing testimony Wednesday.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant
District Attorney Scott Crichton.
Boult and his wife were in court to
resolve a dispute over property. Mrs.
Boult told her attorney that her husband
customarily carried a gun, and the
attorney in turn notified the judge.
The court bailiff's then asked Boult to
step into a conference room. Lt. Everett
Joyner testified he asked Boult if he had
a gun and the man pulled back his sports
coat to show him a pistol.
Joyner said he took the weapon —
which was loaded — away from Boult.
Boult told the deputies he holds two
jobs as a security guard. The 34-year-old
Shreveporter produced a card
signed by State Police Commander Bo
Garrison stating that he is a com-missioned
officer. Boult said it was his
understanding that he had the right to
carry a gun.
