• In this morning's paper I
read where former Mayor
Calhoun Allen and former Public
Safety Commissioner Terry
Hayes have landed new jobs, both
with the LSU Medical Center. I'd
like to know how much their
salaries are and how much their
retirement pay is. I think the
public should know this since we
pay taxes on these things. (Edi-tor's
Note: Hayes' salary will be
$16,000 a year and Allen's $28,000,
according to Mac Griffith, medi-cal
center spokesman. We do not
have the information about then-retirement
pay but will get it.
• Allen and Hayes. I would like
to know who held those two job
positions with LSU Medical Cen-ter
before Mr. Allen and Mr.
Hayes, or were they just manu-factured
for them at the tax-payers'
expense? (Editor's Note:
Griffith said neither position is
new. Hayes is returning to a post
not filled after he vacated it to run
for office. Griffith said the center
sought to fill the post but was
unsuccessful. He said Allen is fill-ing
a post held up until six months
ago by an assistant hospital ad-ministrator.
The post has been
upgraded through a title change
and added responsibilities, he
said.
