Med Center chaplain named to state office
Chaplain Jacob A.S. Fisher of LSU
Medical Center was elected president of
the Louisiana Chaplains Association
Inc. at its quarterly meeting Tuesday at
the National Hansen's Disease Center,
U.S. Public Health Service Hospital, in
Carville.
Chaplain Ray McPherson of NHDC
was elected vice president and Chaplain
John Leachman of Northwest State
School in Bossier was elected secretary-treasurer.
The LCA, with more than 70 mem-bers,
is representative of chaplains who
work in hospitals, military installations
and penal institutions throughout the
state. Fisher said it is joined with the
Louisiana Interchurch Conference in
advancing chaplain services in these
institutions through continuing educa-tion.
Fisher is a retired Navy chaplain who
has been with LSU Medical Center for
more than nine years. As director of
chaplain services there, he has almost
100 volunteers working with him.
