Mollie Webb Speech and Hearing Center, Lester Haas

Speech and Hearing
Center Is Inspected
An inspection of the Mollie
Webb Speech and Hearing
Center was conducted
Tuesday afternoon by
representatives from the
Louisiana State University
Medical School in Shreveport.
The inspection was an
examination, medical school
business manager Robert
Graves said, to see if the
renovation of the building
housing the center meets
contract specifications.
The center is a project of
the Junior League of
Shreveport and the Caddo
Foundation for Exceptional
Children and is housed on
medical school property at the
Linwood complex.
Those making Tuesday's
tour were Graves; Charlie
Martin of Baton Rouge,
architect for LSU; Lester C.
Haas, president of the Caddo
Foundation for Exceptional
Children; and Wally Savell,
head of the physical plant for
the medical school.
Dr. Barbara Zimmerman,
director of the clinic,
emphasized that the center is
not yet opened and work is not
yet completed on the building.
An open house will mark the
official opening of the clinic,
probably in September, she
said.
The center will serve the
Ark-La-Tex and provide
speech disorder evaluation
and therapy, hearing
evaluation and therapy,
lip-reading instruction,
psychometric therapy and
hearing aid consultation.
A parent-infant guidance
service will be included for
children too young to enter the '
deaf-oral program within the
school system.
