Three Local Groups to Hear
California College Chaplain
A college chaplain from California,
the Rev. Charles Patrick Carroll, will
speak at three meetings here Wednes-ciay.
Carroll is protestant chaplain to
faculty and students at the University of
California-San Francisco Medical Center
and also executive director of the Center
for Human Values in the Health
Sciences at the University of California,
San Francisco.
Carroll will speak at 8 a.m. at the
"Man in Medicine" course at the
Louisiana State University Medical
School, Shreveport. He also will address
the clergy of the Shreveport Episcopal
Convocation at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's
Episcopal Church.
He will be one of four speakers on a
symposium on abortion at the Clinical
Pastoral Training Conference for Ark-
La-Tex ministers at 1 p.m. in Schumpert
Memorial Hospital.
Other speakers in the symposium will
be Dr. Robert Clawson, associate
professor of anatomy, "Embryological
Development in the Human Being;" Dr.
Nathan Bender, clinical associate pro-fessor
of psychiatry, "Psychiatric As-pects:''
and Dr. Earl E. Dilworth,
clinical professor of obstretics and
gynecology, "Obstetrical Aspects." Car-roll
will discuss "Moral and Religious
Aspects."
Carroll has been an ecumenical
scholar, Church of Berlin-Brandenburg,
Germany, and vicar of St. Philip's
Episcopal Church in San Jose. He was
an official observer of the Nazi doctors'
trial at Nuremberg in 1947. The case was
styled as the United States versus
Brandt at. al.
The chaplain has held other official
church positions and teaching positions
Rev, Charles Patrick Carroll

and he has been an editor, advertisings
executive and business representative.
He served in military positions in
Munich and Berlin.
He is a graduate of Union Theological
Seminary in New York City, Harvard
University, the University of Berlin and
Church Divinity School of the Pacific,
Berkeley, and attended Yale University.
