On Dietetics
Dr. Maxine Hinton, dietetic
internship director and
assistant professor of pediatrics
at the University of Arkansas
Medical Center, Little Rock,
Ark., will discuss "The Chang-ing
Role of the Clinical Dieti-tian"
at a continuing education
seminar s p o n s o r e d by the
Shreveport Dietetic Association
Tuesday at Schumpert Memo-rial
Hospital.
Also on the program will be
Dr. Arthur T. Fort, head of the
Departments of Obstetrics and
Gynecology at both the Louisia-na
State University Medical
School at S h r e v e p o r t and
Confederate Memorial Medical
Center.
His topic will be "Nutrition
During Pregnancy."
Dr. Hinton has served as
chairman of the National Diet
Therapy Section of the Ameri-can
Dietetic Association. She
also has served as chairman of
the group's membership com-mittee
and nominating commit-tee.
She is author of s e v e r a l
publications, including some
which deal with obesity and
food habits of adolescents.
Fort is certified by the
American Board of Obstretics
and Gynecology and is a Fellow
of the American College of
Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
His research has dealt with
fetal pathophysiology sickle cell
anemia and pregnancy, repro-ductive
contributions to mental
and physical subnormality and
prenatal assessment of birth
defects.
