W. Juan W a t k i n s, and a
Metairie minister, the Rev
Kent A. Kilbourne, have been
elected to the board of trus-tees
of Centenary College by
the Louisiana Annual Confer-ence
of the United Msthodist
Church. Their names were
submitted by the nominating
committee of the board and
were approved by the confer-ence
this morning.
Dr. W a t k i n s, associated
with the medical corporation
of Drs. Pou, Q u i n n, and
Watkins of Shreveport, is 38;
and Reverend Kilbourne, as-sociate
pastor of the Murthol-land
United Methodist Church
of Metairie, is 27, continuing a
trend of naming younger
members as Centenary trus-tees.
THOSE MEMBERS of the
board whose terms expired
this year were reannointed by
the conference. They are:
Mrs. Beynon S Cheesman,
Dr. Jack Cooke, Dr. D. L.
Dykes, Jr., Mrs. Thomas E.
Hogan, T. B. Lanford, Harry
R. Nelson, Mrs. Justin R.
Querbes, III., D. A. Raymond,
Jr., Albert Sklar, and J. Hugh
Watson, all of Shreveport;
Floyd C. Boswell, formerly of
Shreverort and now living in
Skokie,' 111.; Murray C. Finch-er
of New Orleans; and G. W.
James of Ruston.
Dr. Watkins is a1 native of
Carthage, Miss. He received
his B.S. degree from Cente-nary
in 1957 and his M.D.
degree from the LSU School
of Medicine in 1962. He served
his internship at the Confeder-ate
Memorial Medical Center
from 1962-1963 and his residen-cy
in otolaryngology at the
CMMC from 1963-1967. He is a
member of the A m e r i c a n
Medical Association, the
Shreveport Medical Society,
the Louisiana State Medical
Society, the Ark-La-Tex O and
0 Society, and the Diplomate
American Board of Otolaryn-gology.
HE IS A CLINICAL assist-ant
professor at the LSU
School of Medicine in Shreve-port
in the department of
otolaryngology and is on the
staff of the S c h u m p e r t ,
CMMC, Bossier General, P&S,
Doctors and Willis Knighton
hospitals. Dr. Watkins is on
the board of directors of Open
Ear, president of the Cente-nary
College Alumni Associa-tion
