Agencies Need Teen-Age Volunteers This Summer

seeking teen-agers (14 years and older)
to fill requests for summer volunteers.
There are some requests for 12 and 13
year olds and the bureau itself needs
teen-agers of all ages to stuff envelopes,
do clerical work, alphabetize and to
entertain. If you would like to be on call
to donate your time as needed, call
Volunteer Bureau Director Pat Gobble
at 865-4819.
The bureau, a United Way agency, is
a clearinghouse for all agencies using
volunteers and attempts to place volun-teers
in direct service type work that is
interesting, useful and needed. No fees
are ever charged people or the agen-cies.
Volunteer opportunities open to teen-agers
this summer are as follows:
Women's Resource Center, 710
Travis St., needs boys and girls to
provide supervision and recreation for
children of residents during group
therapy sessions. Training and

Bossier Medical Center, 2105 Airline
Drive, needs Candystripers. Call De-borah
Wadsack, 746-6280.
Bossier Health Care Center, 2901
Douglas, needs pianists, and teen-agers
to assist with crafts and bingo. Call

P&S Hospital, 1530 Line Ave., needs
Candystripers to work 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bossier Council on Aging, 519
Barksdale Blvd., needs yar4 workers
and homemaker helpers for elderly
handicapped citizens. Call Belle Wyn-inger,

Schumpert Guild, 915 Margaret
Place, uses boys and girls as junior
volunteers during the summer. Call

C-BARC Goldman School, 351 Jordan
St., needs boys and girls (12 years and
up) in June only to assist on field trips
and swimming. Call Dorothy Daley,

Holy Angels School on Ellerbe Road
uses boys and girls (14 years and up) to
held certified teachers in the swimming
program for trainable mentally re-tarded
from mid-June to mid-August, 9
a.m. to 12 noon and 2:30 to 5 p.m.

Christian Services Program, 700 Tex-as
Ave. needs boys and girls (16 years
and up) to repair, sort and wrap toys, do
clerical work and some homebound
worR. Call Sister Margaret or Gloria

Highland Nursing Home, 453 Jordan
St., needs a pianist twice a month and
volunteers to help with arts and crafts.

Northwest La. State School, 5401
Shed Road, Bossier City, needs boys and
girls (16 years and up) as swim program
assistants from 12 noon to 2 p.m.
weekdays in June and July; and all
summer to push wheelchairs and
transport residents to physical therapy
and classes weekdays between 8 and 10
a.m. and 2 and 4 p.m. Call Eugenia

American Red Cross, Caddo Parish
chapter, 4200 Linwood Ave., needs boys
and girls (15 years and up) in the Adopt-a-
Grandparent program. Call Lillian

LSU Medical Center, 1541 Kings
Highway, has 72 different areas of work
for boys and girls (14 years and up) on
weekdays. Volunteers serve a minimum
of two hours a week between 8 a.m. and
1:30 p.m. some areas are open for
service on weekends and at night. Call

Indoor Sports Club, 555 Herndon, uses
boys and girls (15 years and up) to
answer the phone, keep the library and
do clerical work. Call Venora Hall,

Library Helpers are needed at Broad-moor
Branch, 4025 Youree Drive, and
South Caddo Library, 9701 Baird Road.

Allendale Branch YWCA, 700 Pierre
Ave., needs boys and girls (17-19) for
softball, as coaches, practice assistants
and to care for equipment and prepare
fields. Call Mrs. Jennett Willingham,

VA Medical Center, 510 E. Stoner,
can use boys and girls 15 years and
older to work in many different areas.

NOW addressing envelopes for an an-niversary
open house in June, and all
summer older teen-agers are needed
for telephone counseling for Shire

Broadmoor Family YMCA, 215 Car-roll
St., wants older teen-agers for
secretaries, desk clerks either day or
evening. Call Stephen Kuretich,

Caddo-Bossier Day Care Association,
1846 Fairfield, room 220, needs teen. I
agers (15 years and older) to work at the
day care centers (722 Grand Ave., 2200
Milam St., 864 Olive St. and 462
Hamilton, Bossier City) as teachers'
aides, help 'with art, music, games and
language activities and at play. Can
work mornings or late afternoons one or

to 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays and
ceramists to help with crafts.
Open Ear, Inc., Centenary Colfege,
Box 247, needs volunteers 18 years and
older to work as staff aides 8 p.m. to 12
midnight Monday through Thursday
and from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m; Friday and
Saturday at the Crisis Call Center. Call
