23 l.la.y 1944, the following report for tho ~onth of November 1545 is
submitted:
a.. The detachment "A11 hospital section, which operated the old
70th General Hospital area. near Pra.tolino, Italy, during October, Officially
closed as of midnight, 5 November 1945, and the few ren:aining patients were
transported to the main unit in Leghorn. Two Officers and a detail of men
remained at that site to turn in all equipment and to derequisition all
real estate.
b. The 64th General Hospital was released of the responsibility of
the openation of the Florence dispensary on 3 November 1945 and all property
was turned over to personnel of the 99th Field Hospi~l who are now assigned
to the medical care of U.S. personnel in the Florence area.
c. Between the 17th and 19th of November , all personnel of the 6lst
Station Hospital arrived from Foggia to take over all equipment, patients,
and real estate of this Hospital, and effective midni&nt, 21st of November
ali administration reverted to the 6lst Station Hospital. The officers and
enlisted men re~~ining in the 64th General Hospital are working in their
departments until redeployed or transferred.
d. The unit strength as of 31 Oct. 1945, totalled 162 for Offi cers,
Nurses, Hospital Dietitians and Fhysical Therapy Aides and a assigned strength

of 1062 for Enlisted Personnel. As of 30 November 1945, the strength for ~
Officers, Nurses, llospital Dietitians and Physical Therapy Aides dropped to
36 and the Enlisted strength dropped to 131. --
e. 41 Nurses 1 4HD, IPr and 25 Officers were transferred Jco the 7th
Replacement Depot in November ~or return to the u.s.
f. Captain Helen M. Calnan, ANC, was awarded the Bronze Medal this
month for I·~eri·torius Services.
g. Professional.
(1) 184 patients were evacuated .to ZI via the Hospital Ship,
" Algenquin".
