Employe groups workers, headed by E. M. Rowley, will be or-ganizing inplant promotion, in many instances in co-opertation with representatives of organized labor. Sparkling this effort was a visit to New Orleans this week end of Reginald Kennedy, of the labor participation department, Community Chests and councils of America.
Sponsored by the President of the United States, the governor and the mayor, public offices also will organize solicitation of employes for the Chest campaign.
Quota of $27,500 was accepted for the federal group by Harry P. Newton, division chairman. "He is first vice-president of the Louisiana Engineering Society and s active in civic and welfare organizations. Judge Herbert W. Christen-berry is honorary chairman.
An appeal from President Truman addressed to the heads of executive departments and agencies has been circulated to federal employes. President Truman expressed hope "that all employes will give generously, keeping in mind the fact that each of the Red Feather services included in the Conjmunity Chest would appeal separately if they were not united in this one campaign and that contributors should give enough to support all of these services for a full year."
A $7500 quota was accepted for the state employes division by Dr. William W, Frye of the Louisiana State university medical school. Gov. Long, honorary chairman, has written heads of state offices urging enthusiastic co-operation'' and expressing hope that the division will go over the top as it did last year.
