Dr. Richard A. Dalton Jr., 30, well-known local physician, was drowned at about 4:30 a. m. Saturday at Grand Isle. According to word reaching Lafayette late Saturday afternoon, the body had not been recovered despite an all day search.
The physician, who was accompanied by a brother, Dr. Orien Dalton of New Iberia, is said to have fallen from a boat while fishing in the vicinity of an offshore oil rig. They were accompanied by a Grand Isle man who was in charge of the craft,
A native of Abbeville and a graduate of the Louisiana State university medical school, Dr. Dalton had been a resident of Lafayette since his graduation.
Surviving are the widow, formerly Zella Simon of Abbeville; three young children; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard A, Dalton of Abbeville; two brothers, Dr. Orien Dalton and Dr. Francis Dalton of New Iberia, and one sister Mrs. Jules Mindiell of Abbeville.
