Eye specialists from all over the United States were told here today to be on the lookout in their examinations of patients for manifestations of general diseases of the body.

annual midwinter convention of the New Orleans Academy of Ophthal-
Guest speakers today, who called
for the study of the manifestations of general diseases in the eye, included Drs. William P. Beetham, Boston, eye surgeon at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear infirmary, a teaching infirmary of Harvard university, and Glen G. Gibson, Philadelphia, Pa., professor of ophthalmology, Temple university.
Dr. Beetham said many diseases can be diagnosed through an eye examination. He said eye specialists should be on the lookout for general diseases and likewise the general practitioner should never overlook the eyes in making a diagnosis.
