A portrait of Edgar B. Stern, president of the board of trustees, Dillard university, was scheduled to be presented to the university iii ceremonies at 1:15 p. m. today in Hinson Hall on the university campus.
The presentation, by the board, was a followup of yesterday's ceremonies dedicating the Edgar B. Stern Ball, a $550,000 science
building.
Principal speaker at the dedication was Dr. Arthur H. Compton, chancellor of Washington university, St. Louis, and Nobel prize winner in 1950 for his work in physics.
Dr. Compton told his audience of students and educators that the moving spirit of our age is "the American dream—a social order where each can attain the stature of which he is capable and be recognized for his achievement regardless of the accident of birth or position." ...
