Dr. George J. Caruso and Dr. Bernard M. Steinau of New Orleans have Been awarded annual Farnsworth Fellowships in psychiatry, the Louisiana Society for Mental Health announced Tuesday...Purpose of the fellowships is to bring well-trained psychiatrists to the service of the mental hospitals of the state. It is believed that many young psychiatrists will become interested in institutional work as a life career if they are given an opportunity to be associated with such hospitals.
The Farnsworth Fellowship was first awarded in 1950, and two of the fellowship holders have completed training and are now serving as full-time staff members of the Southeast Louisiana hospital. They are Dr. Fred R. Hine and Dr. William R. Sorum.
Donor of the fellowships is George S.
