Closed circuit television will soon be used in the Louisiana State university medical school classrooms, Dean William M. Frye announced Sunday.
Receivers and camera will be available in the physiology and pharmacology schools next semester. This follows preliminary studies of the use of television which have been carried out for almost a year by the department of physiology, including several demonstrations of surgery and nerve control in animals.
"Such demonstrations," said Dr. A. Eidney Harris, head of th ephysiology department, "ordinarily can be seen well by very few students, possibly six to 10,"
He added, "With the use of good TV equipment, all 120 students and an additional 10 to 15 faculty members and visitors were able to see everything that transpired."
In adopting television for leaching, LSU joins 27 ether educational institutions of the nation,! including the United States Navy | Academy at Annapolis, now using closed circuit television.
