There are about 1000 employees connected with the state board of health.
At the helm is Dr. S. J. Phillips, who is president of the board and chief health officer for the state.
Other officers of the board include Dr. King Rand, Alexandria, vice-president, and S. C. Newitt, New Orleans, secretary-treasurer.
Board members also include Dr. George Burch, New Orleans; Dr. Guy Jones, Lockport; Dr. Louis Mayer, Baton Rouge; Dr. E. L. Carroll Columbia, and Dr. Barney B. Wehner, Lake Charles; J. T. Gibson, Homer; Alpha L. DeRouen, New Orleans.
Working under Dr. Phillips as division heads are: Dr. Andrew Hedmeg, local health services division; Dr. Ben Freedman, preventive medicine and public health training center; Newitt, administrative services; M. E. Kossack, division public health education; Dr. George Hauser, laboratories; [John H. O'Neill, public health engineering; Anthony Ciacdo. public health statistics; Arthur Kennington, bedding and upholstered furniture inspection; H. L. Hortman milk and dairy products; and Miss Lillian Jeffers, public health nursing.
