At a May meeting of the Louisiana board, he said, a total expenditure of $44,594.48 was approved for seven new research grants-in-aid, two undergraduate research grants, four summer assistantships, an undergraduate research fellowship for Louisiana State university, and financial aid to establish artery banks in New Orleans and Shreveport and to improve heart surgical facilities here and in Baton Rouge.
R o gers said the American Heart Association has approved six research grants-in-aid to begin July 1 totalling $30,262.99. ... The balance of the funds approved by the state association will be used in development of artery banks and surgical facilities, Rogers said.
