Dr. Milton McCall told graduating seniors of the Louisiana State university school of medicine they "must be dedicated to the philosophy of the first rate."
Speaking at precommencement exercises in the medical School auditorium yesterday, Dr. McCall told the seniors they "must continue to be students, learn to be teachers, • and be-
come dedicated to excellence.
Dr. McCall is head of the department of obstetrics and gyne-cology,
"If- you are to have a proper perspective through the years and create the doctor you have planned to be, you must be broadminded with the simplicity to wonder, the ability to question, the power to generalize,1 the capacity to apply.
"It is? important that you continue to be a student, not only of books and journals, but of human nature with all its disillusioning frailties and its transcendent possibilities for good.
Practical Teacher
"Every doctor, no matter what his field, has an unparailelled opportunity to become a practical teacher,
"Devotion to excellence is dependent on the presence of superior personal character. Hon-estry, integrity and the courage to use them in every situation is the mark of a physician who is dedicated to the best," Dr. McCall said.
