At the meeting of the Southern section of the Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine today. Dr. Richard Ashman, L. S. U. professor of physiology, presented a paper entitled "Monophasic Action Currents Without Injury." Dr. Ash-man was assisted in the presentation by Norman C. Woody, second year student in the Louisiana State University Medical Center.
At the May meeting of the Orleans Parish Medical society, Dr J. O. Weilbaecher, Jr., assistant professor of medicine, presented a paper entitled "Acute Spinal Epidural Abscess, With Report of Four Cases," and Dr. Frederick F. Boyce, assistant professor of surgery, a paper entitled "The Mortality of Thyroid Disease In a Non-Endemic Area. An Analysis of 102 Consecutive Deaths With a Special Note on the Liver Factor."
Dr. Julius Baurer, professor of
clinical medicine, is attending the meeting of the association for the study of internal secretions in St. Louis, where he will present a paper entitled "Common Diagnostic and Therapeutic Errors in the Management of 'Fat' Boys." Dr. Bauer will later go to Columbus, where by invitation of the Academy of Medicine he will present a paper entitled "Pain Caused By Endocrine Disorders." Formerly professor of medicine at the University of Vienna, Dr. Bauer joined the L. S. U. faculty January 1 of this year.
