A Charity Hospital official said today an elderly man who shot a doctor and suffered a hand wound in the scuffle was fully and promptly treated, and that the hospital has protested a police officer's criticism of the hospital's handling of the case.
Dr. A_A. Flores, assistant director'at lEe hospital, said that the hospital's protest had been made in a telephone call to Maj. Alfred Theriot, police department secretary.
The criticism of the patient's treatment was made in a public statement yesterday by police Lt. James Arnold, who was investigating the double shooting.

Police said Bow shot Dr.
Hugh T. Beacham, 54, a urolo-gtsTTmTEeTeft^houlder, and was wounded in the left hand with his own pistol when Dr. Beacham struggled with Dow. The shooting happened Monday about 1 p. m, in an 11th floor corridor of the Pere Mar-quette outside Dr. Beacham's office.
