Former Assistant To Dean Named To Succeed D'Aunoy -- BATON ROUGE, Dec. 12,—Dr. John R. Schenken, 2117 Octavia street, New Orleans, assistant to the dean of the LSU, medical center in New Orleans, has been named to succeed Dr. Rigney D'Aunoy as professor of pathology and bacteriology at the medical center. Dr. Paul M. Hebert, acting president of LSU, announced here yesterday.
Dr. D'Aunoy, who was formerly also dean of the LSU medical center, has a contract with LSU as head of the department of pathology and professor of pathology and bacteriology (the position Dr. Schenken takes) until next July.
Dr. D'Aunoy has been granted leave of absence until the end of the fiscal year, Dr. Hebert said. The position of head of the pathology department was the last of several which Dr. D'Aunoy has held with LSU. He succeeded Dr. Arthur Vidrine as dean of the medical center in 1937, continuing to hold his post as head of the pathology department.
Throughout the same period he also held the post of medical consultant on the new Charity hospital WPA project. Several months ago he announced his resignation as dean of the medical center and was succeeded by. Dr. Beryl I. Burns. He also announced at that time that he was leaving his post as medical consultant at Charity hospital as soon as his work would permit.
