Excerpted text	Dr. Abe Mickal has been named professor and head of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the Louisiana State University school of medicine. Dr. William W. Frye, dean, announced Monday that the appointment had been approved by the board of supervisors. Dr. Mickal, who will assume his duties July 1, graduated from LSU in Baton Rouge in 1936 and from the school of medicine in 1940.During his undergraduate days, Dr. Mickal was a campus leader, a member of scholastic and leadership fraternities and an outstanding football player. He was named SEC fullback 1934-35.
