An annual cash award in memory of the late Dr. George S. Bel has been established at the school of medicine of Louisiana State Uni« versity by Mrs. Bel, Dr. B. I. Burns, dean, announced today. The establishment was made through Dr. Urban Maes, director of the department of surgery.
The award, to be known as the George S. Bel memorial award, will be $50 in cash, and will be presented every year, beginning with the close of the present term. It will go to the fourth year student who "symbolized the highest ideals of medicine."
