Members of the New Orleans Heart Council will observe the latest experiments in heart surgery Friday during a tour of the Tulane university school of medicine.
James S. Flower, chairman of the council, said the group will make a laboratory tour at 10:30 a. m, He said the tour is being cosponsored by the Tulane school of medicine and the Louisiana Heart Association.
Among developments the group will be shown is the most recent experiments in transplanting of arteries.
Dr. H. S. Mayerson, chairman of the physiology department at Tulane university and a member of the Heart council is in charge of the tour.
The heart council is planning a later tour of the heart research projects at Louisiana State university school of medicine, Dr. May erson said.
The Louisiana Heart Association is providing $148,000 for research and research training in the current fiscal year, with the majority of the grants going to the two medical schools.
