More than 700 students from 28: public, private and parochial | secondary schools have enrolled j for the New Orleans Junior Academy of Sciences seminar which opens Friday.
The seminar, which will feature seven subjects, will be held on three consecutive Fridays, be-| ginning Oct. 23. With the exception |of the -class in astronomy, all grounds will meet from 4:15 to 5:15 p. m. at a designated place.
Mrs. W. H. Hindson, seminar chairman, said the astronomy class, limited registration to 50, will meet at 8 p. m. at Tulane university's observatory. Dr. Fraser Thomson, associate professor of mathematics and astronomy at Tulane, will conduct the course.
The other courses, their meeting place and instructors at the opening session are: Biology— Marquette auditorium, Loyola university, Dr. Robert C. Goss of Loyola, instructor; Chemistry— Tulane chemistry building, Dr. Winston R. deMonsabert of Loyola, instructor; Oil—Shell building, conference room 1404, Dr. C. H. Gregory, G. D. O'Brien and J. D. Heacock, instructors and James G. Gusman, school chairman; Physics — Tulane physics building, Dr. Joseph Morris of the Tulane physics department, instructor; Physiology — Louisiana State university, school of medicine, Dr. Sidney Harris of L.S.U., instructor; and Seismology—Loyola physics building, room P-2, the Rev. Karl A. Maring, S. J., professor of physics at Loyola, instructor.
According to Mrs. Hindson, the following are participating in the seminars: Loyola, LSU, Tulane and the Louisiana Petroleum Council.
A general business meeting of the Academy will be held Nov. 10 at 4 p. m. at Tulane's Dixon Hall, she said.
