'Twasn't that way Monday /hen they were married with er in Barranquilla, Colombia, nd Harmon on the telephone i St. Joseph church here. The iroxy marriage spanned 1785 miles.
Tuesday night, Harmon met his 22-year-old bride at Mois-ant International Airport and whisked her away to their new apartment at 2023*/i Jena. There the Rev. Albert O'Reil-y made the former Miss Myr-am Ariza the bona fide Louisi-ma bride of William Edward Harmon. It was a simple but lappy little ceremony. 500 POUNDS OF LUGGAGE Earlier, the nervous bride and ?room had made happy signals to each other through the plate glass doors of the airport's customs office.
"She brought more than 500 pounds of luggage with her," said Harmon, gazing through the glass doors. "We're going to leave most of it in customs for a few days." Through with customs, the bride walked through the door. The couple went into a loving clinch. Flash bulbs flashed. They hugged a little more, even when no pictures were being made.
Then they were off to the wedding.
CALL OFF MEXICAN TRIP Harmon, a senior medical student at Louisiana State university, said they had planned to honeymoon in Mexico. But that plan was called off.
"Not enough money," he explained.
He was high in his praise w his bride. He said she is a graduate surgical nurse, studied to be a ballerina and speaks Spanish, English, French and Italian. "She has been a sales representative and interpreter for Pan American World Airways,' , said Harmon, "that's how she was able to bring all that lug gage."
Among the guests at the after-wedding party were Harmon's parent's Mr. and Mrs. Floyd D. Harmon; uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Morrell, Baton Rouge, and the bride's cousin, Victor Ferrans Jr., the fellow who started the whole thing.
Ferrans, Harmon's roommate ai LSU, introduced the couple in Barranquilla last Christmas.
