An award of $12,960 has been granted to support short-term research by medical students of Louisiana State university school of medicine.
The award, made by'the National Science Foundation, is for a three-year period, according to Dr. William W. Frye, dean of the school of medicine and vice-president of LSU.
Dr. Frye said the grant will provide stipends td support six students in summer research fellowships. He said the selected students will he assigned to work on a departmental research project already in progress — a project which calls for a study of the methodology and interpretation of scientific data.
The new grant brings to 18 the total of such fellowships now available at the medical school, Dr. Frye added.
