In another blaze, occurring
Saturday night, a $5000 fire
damaged four dwellings in the
2600 block of Erato and the
1300 block of S. Robertson,
No one was reported injured
in either alarm.
Second district fire chief William Landwehr said the medical school fire started in a wooden storage cabinet in the third floor room. The blaze was confined to the cabinet, he said, but the ceiling, walls and lighting fixtures were seriously scorched.
Dr. John Buddingh, head of the microbiology department, said the cabinet had been used to store glassware wrapped in heavy paper, and packages of parafin. He told firemen he had been working.in the laboratory until 11 a. m. and had seen no fire at that time.
The blaze was discovered less than an hour later by M. S. Nesom, 58, 2525 Verbena, a watchman, tvhen he was making his round
