Dr. Frank N. Low, professor of anatomy at Louisiana State university school of medicine, has been named chairman of the Louisiana Society for Electron Microscopy.
He was chosen at the fall meeting of the group Friday afternoon at LSU medical school. He succeeds Claude J. Arceneaux, Baton Rouge.
The microscopy society is composed of about 60 biologists,! chemists, and physicists from! New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Shreveport.
Other new officers are Verne Tripp, New Orleans, chairman-elect; Dr. G. W. Bailey, Baton Rouge, secretary-treasurer; and Dr. R. G. Hibbs, New Orleans, representative.
Featured speaker on the afternoon program included Miss Mary Rollins of the Southern Utilization Research and Development Laboratory in New Orleans, who presented a paper on ' 'A Report from the Executive Committee of the Electron Microscope Society of America," and Dr. Low, who spoke on "The European Regional Conference on Electron Microscopy, DELFT 1960." 'The latter talk included a discussion of recent Russian advances in electron microscopy.
Dr Bailey presided over a general discussion of techniques and problems in the electron microscopy field. Following a dinner at the LSU medical school cafeteria, Dr. W. H.
