Final winners of Sports Illustrated silver anniversary were announced Sunday and the name of one of Louisiana State university's most talented and popular athletes appeared among the celebrities who were chosen. Di\ Abe Mickal, who studied medicine at LSU while starring in the role of forward passer, punter and runner was nominated by his alma mater for the honor. He played with the Tigers 25 years ago, graduated with high honors and now is head of the department of .obstetrics and gynecology at LSU.
Again in 1980 this unique award reflects the glory of exceptional achievement in many fields. In addition to successful professional men like Mickal there are noteworthy names such as Pulitzer Prize author John Hersey, Yale; Jim Lee Howell, head coach of the New York football Giants, Arkansas; Dr. Cecil Humphreys, president of Memphis State university, an4 Frederick R.
