At.least 500 graduates received degrees at Louisiana State university's midyear commencement exercises Tuesday.
Doctorate degrees were awarded to 26 students, and another 110 students received master's degrees. Commencement speaker was the Rev. W. Patrick Donnelly, president of Loyola university in New Orleans.
Father Donnelly, who became president of Loyola in 1952, formerly was president of Spring Hill college in Mobile, Ala.
The university has* awarded a total of about 45,000 degrees since its beginning 101 years ago this month. Three commencement exercises are held annually, in January, June and August.
