Problems affecting the medical and legal professions were discussed by members of the New Orleans Bar Association at a meeting of the Orleans Parish Medical Society Tuesday night.
A, panel of three attorneys, H. Martin Hunley Jr., Curtis R. Boisfontaine and Samuel C. Gainsburgh, outlined areas where doctors would need legal knowledge.
Some of the areas discussed were medical testimony in civil litigation — damage suits and workmen's compensation suits; types of medical testimony and release of information on examination and treatment by physicians to litigants and counsel.
Both groups generally agreed that technical language used by both professions should be simplified for better communication.
The meeting, which was held in the auditorium of the Louisiana State university school of medicine, concluded with a business session of the medical society.
