Dr. Robert L. Simmons^ head of' tne department of public health and preventive medicine, Louisiana State university school of medicine, has been named associate dean of the school of medicine, Dr. William W. Frye, vice-president of the university and dean of the school of medicine, announced.
Dr. Simmons received an M..D. degree from LSU in 1937 and a master of public health degree
from Columbia university in 1947. He was associated with the Mississippi state board of health for many-years, serving as director of the training center for the last four years.
He has been .head of the public health and preventive medicine department at LSU since 1947 and is senior visiting physi-jcian on the LSU Preventive Medicine Service at Charity hospital.
