Miss Connie Bartrand, a student nurse at McNeese College, Lake Charles, is the new president of the Louisiana Association of Student Nurses.
The title was bestowed upon her at the annual convention attended by 262 persons studying to become nurses. The meeting at the Fontainebleau Motor Hotel closed yesterday.
Also elected were Kay Cologne, first vice-president; and Diane LeCorgne, second vice-president, both of Mercy Hospital, New Orleans; Opal Perkoff, recording secretary; Dianne Pi-cou, corresponding secretary; Maxie Mayet, treasurer.
Rolland Buckner will be the organization's chairman of nominations.
Theme of the convention here, was "Nursing Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow."
Nursing schools which had representatives at the meeting included Baptist Hospital, Charity Hospital, Dillard University, Louisiana State University, Hotel Dieu, Mercy"Hospital and Touro Infirmary.
Projects exemplifying the convention's theme were submitted by each school. Judges selected the one by Mercy'
