A 28-year-old staff nurse from Veterans Administration Hospital is the "General Duty Nurse of the Year" in the New Orleans area.
Mrs. Naomi Clement received the award Monday night during a banquet at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine.
A professional nurse since 1957, she was judged winner in an annual competition held by the general duty section of the New Orleans District Nurses Association.
A staff nurse from each of nine hospitals was nominated for the title, awarded on the basis of judging as to functions standards and qualifications outlined by the American Nurses Association and the Louisiana State Nurses Association. „ Mrs. Marlys Heindel, staff nurse from the Eye, Ear, Nose

of the Year" award, made the 1964 presentation. The award is j a large loving cup.
A native of Hico, La., Mrs. Jlement came to Veterans Administration Hospital in 1959 after serving as general duty nurse and head nurse at &. Patrick's Hospital, Lake Charles. She had received her bachelor of science in nursing degree from Northwestern State College in 1957.
