Seventy-nine graduates of the Louisiana State University medical center, 1542 Tulane avenue, will receive diplomas at commencement exercises in the Municipal Auditorium at 8 p. m. today.
Dr. Roy Kracke, dean of the University of Alabama school of medicine and noted hematologist, will deliver the principal address at the exercises. Prior to assuming his present position he was director of the department of pathology at Emory university in Atlanta.
Dr. W. B. Hatcher, Baton Rouge, president of Louisiana State university, will preside at the program tonight. Dr. B. I. Burns, dean of the medical center will present awards.
F. J. Mayer, president of the graduating class, said Tuesday that this class is believed to be the first in the country to begin and complete its work under the accelerated program of study adopted incident to the war. Under this program the students have attended classes continuously for three years.
Among those to graduate tonight are 47 who will simultaneously be commissioned first lieutenants in the army, 21 who will be commissioned lieutenants junior grade in the navy, and 11 civilians. Seven of the civilians are women, the largest number of any class to date at the L. S. U. medical center.
