Politics will be left out of the new administration of the Louisiana State university medical school, Dr. Vernon W. Lippard, recently appointed dean, said Friday.
Now in New York where he is associate dean of the college of physicians and surgeons of Columbia university, Dr. Lippard will assume the post here on September 16.
He said that he has been assured by Dr. W. B. Hatcher, LSU president, that "politics will be out" in handling the school's affairs.
"I have no interest in politics. My interest is in the development of medical education," the youthful dean said. "If the school is to function properly then academic freedom is necessary."
