Election of a new president and other officers was expected to high light the meetings today of the 13th congress of the International Society of Surgery at the Roosevelt hotel.
Election of officers, selection of a site for the next session and election of committeemen and honorary members were scheduled
for a general assembly or the-world's leading surgeons this afternoon.
Earlier today the surgeons once again witnessed operations by Dr. Alton Ochsner and his Tulane staff and Dr. James D. Rives and his LSU staff, some of which were televised to the surgeons' principal meeting place, the hotel's University Room.
The fourth day of the meeting opened with surgeons still singing the praises of aged Dr. Rudolph Matas of New Orleans-—a pioneer in the fields of vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, anesthesia and continuous intravenous injections—whp was honored yesterday at ceremonies at the Hut-chinson Memorial building of Tulane university.
