Physicians from many parts of the country will assemble here today for the first of a series of lectures by 18 medical teachers and scholars in the first annual session of the New Orleans graduate medical assembly.
Dr. Thomas Benton Sellers, president of the assembly, Sunday reported that approximately 650 medical men had made known their intention of participating in the assembly. Of this number, he said, approximately 200 are out-of-town physicians, 200 are New Orleans practitioners and 250 are associated with the Tulane and Louisiana State university medical schools.
The session, following registration today at 8 a. m. at The Roosevelt, will be opened with formal exercises at 9:30 a. m. at the Tip Top Inn of the hotel. The assembly will meet through Thursday.
Addresses Scheduled
Addresses of welcome are scheduled to be delivered at this meeting by Governor Richard W. Leche; a representative of Mayor Robert S. Maestri; Dr. H. W. Kostmayer, president of the Louisiana State Medical Society; Dr. James T. Nix, president of the Orleans Parish Medical Society, and Dr. Sellers. The Rev. Everett Gill, Jr., will pronounce the invocation.
