coach at Tulane last year sends his Mississippi Aggies against the Tulane Greenies of his former
team-mate, Clark Shaughnessy, in Tulane stadium today.

Bernie Bierman's eleven will have a neat assortment of tricks if dope runs true to form. Scouts of
the Aggies' two games brought back information into the Tulane camp that the Aggies were playing
"under wraps" apparently using just enough fancy tactics to win and content in keeping their light

A decade ago when ''Doc'' Williams'
famous Minnesota eleven was burning
up the middle West, Clark Shaughness7
and Bernie Bierman were two of the
brightest grid stars in the outfit. Shaughnessy,
perhaps the greatest passer in
the Middle West during his football
days, was one of the most versatile
players in the Big Ten. He played end,
halfback and tackle and did each to
perfection.
just as Shaughnessy passed out from
Minnesota's portals. Bernie Bierman
was hitting his stride. The finest defense
fullback at Minnestoa and a wonder
at picking holes in a line, Bierman
became a great star.

and assistant coach at Tulane, where
Bierman endeared himself to all athletes
that played under him and Tendered
himself a valuable strategist to
the Green Wave.
Once again Shaughnessy and Bierman
are thrown together, this time as
rival coaches.
There will be action on the field today
when Minnesota and Minnesota
wage a battle of wits and may the best
team win, and we hope Tulane is the

WHAT'S THE DOPE?
Northwestern's Purple will meet up with one of its toughest opponents next Saturday in Chicago,
regardless of the result of the T ulane-Aggie game today.
While the Greenies are battling for revenge on the Aggies for toppling them from the road to a
Championship last year, "Moon" Baker, Gustafson and company will have their hands full trying to
stay in the Big Ten running with Alonzo Stagg's Chicago Maroon eleven doing its best to kick them
out of the race.
Tulane ,as said a dozen times before, has the greatest chance to "crash the recognition gate" when
it gets into Chicago before 30 or more thousand Middle Western fans.

With the following assertion expected to be discounted as undergraduate enthusiasm, we neverthe
less declare that Tulane will beat Northwestern. Coach Thistlewhaite will have a job to get his
Purple eleven to top form for Chicago and if the dictum that "a football team is never the same on
two successive Saturdays'' is true, then Northwestern will find the Tulane game as an anti-climax.
And that's just what we want 'em to do. Then we'll bring about a denoument with a peculiar
twist.
