SOUTHERN CONFERENCE GAMES TODAY
While the clash between Tulane· s glamourous Green Wave and the Panthers of BirminghamSouthern
takes the spotlight in New Orleans today, there are a number of other interesting games
set for Southern Conference teams.
Georgia· s battle with the strong North Carolina Tarheels at Athens undoubtedly takes first
attention . The Bulldogs, unbeaten and conqueror of Yale, will be meeting a likewise undefeated
team of Carolina in a battle that will have much effect on the conference title race.
Alabama and Tennessee at Tuscaloosa also will claim considerable artention in their game.

The success of foptball at any university depends a great deal upon. the loyalty of its students.
its alumni and its following built up in the community in which it exists. Without the
whole hearted support from each source, a great deal of the spectacle is taken away from the
game, regardless of how strong a team the university might have.
Tulane. after the wholesale loss of such outstanding men in the Southern Conference as Dick
Baumbach, Ike Armstrong, Bill Banker. Ford Seeuws and Jack Pizzano, was thought to have
lost her scoring power and the punch needed to go with great line. But the game with the Texas
Aggies proved that the punch was there and that by the time the old Green Wave lines up for
the kickoff with Georgia, Bernie Bierman's backs will be hitting on all four.

Those who have
been hanging around
football stadia for
some years know
the old gridiron maxim:
"No team ever
lost a game and no
coach ever w o n
one.
That's just another
way of saying
that when a team
wins it does so in
spite of its coach and
when it loses i' ts
the coach's fault.
Bernie Bierman
a n d his capable
corps of assistants
need no apologists.
They have done remarkable
work at
Tulane; the Green
ies have been winning;
and the alumni
are happy.
But it wouldn't
take much misfortune
to make all the
fair weather friends
in the Wave camp
fall off the band
wagon and howl for
Bernie's scalp.

criticism of the
50 yard line morons,

anything but victories,
victories, victortes.
Tulane has three
tough games left on
its schedule-Georgia
Tech, Georgia
and L. S. U.T o our
mind the Greenies
are going to win 'em
all, for we think T ulane
is a great football
team.
But if they don't
win 'em all it's not
a calamity, and no
one should be hung
and quartered if disaster
does come the
Wave's way.
However, what-ever
we can say
about it, won't alter
the situation. Even
N apoleon was recalled
by an angry
alumni.
