Title: Black Natchez

Black Natchez, a documentary film by fimmaker Ed Pincus, documents race relations and civil rights efforts in Natchez, Mississippi, following the murder of Wharlest Jackson in February 1965. Pincus' cinema verite style captures attempts to organize and register Black voters and the formation of a self defense group in the Black community in Natchez.

Title: LSU Libraries Civil War Collection

To mark the sesquicentennial of the Civil War, LSU's Special Collections staff has digitized selected items from the LSU Libraries Louisiana and Lower Mississippi Valley Collections (LLMVC). This collection represents the cultural and political aspects of the conflict, and life in antebellum Louisiana. Sources include books, periodicals, maps, manuscripts, state documents, and microfilm that support scholarly research in many areas, including religion, plantation management, slavery, French Creole identity and relations, and Southern nationalism.

Title: Mary McMurran and Conner Family

The bulk of the collection consists of transcriptions of correspondence between Mrs. Mary Louisa Turner McMurran, widow of John T. McMurran and plantation managers between 1866 and 1876. This correspondence pertains to plantation farming, weather, legal matters and life in general in Natchez, Mississippi and the surrounding areas including Moro in Tensas Parish, Louisiana during Reconstruction. The collection also contains images of photographs and postcards from the Audley Britton Conner family, descendents of Judge Edward Turner.
